Ken and I visited The Chanler in September. See our review on KensWineGuide.com. The Chanler at Cliff Walk is only a 90 minute drive south of Boston.
The Chanler is located at the start of Newport’s world famous Cliff Walk which is a 3.5 mile National Recreation Trail meandering along the eastern shore of Newport, RI with great views of the Newport mansions and of course, the ocean. The highly acclaimed Spiced Pear Restaurant is located at The Chanler and offers fine dining in a beautiful oceanfront setting. The restaurant and bar have very good wine selections. The Chanler at Cliff Walk is a small luxurious hotel with beautiful rooms, many of which overlook the Atlantic Ocean. My favorite luxurious amenity is the heated tile floors in the bathroom. Check out The Chanler's website for more details on their winter package getaways and gift certificates. The Stonehedge Inn is only a 45 minute drive north of Boston.
For the ninth straight year, The Wine Spectator has awarded the prestigious Grand Award for Outstanding Restaurant Wine List to the Stonehedge Inn. Awarded to only 76 restaurants world-wide, this coveted award is the industry’s standard bearer for the finest wine lists in the world. The Stonehedge Inn is also home to New England's largest wine cellar. The Left Bank Restaurant, located at The Stonehedge Inn, hosts many wine dinners welcoming winemakers from around the world. The Spa at Stonehedge has added yet another dimension to the Stonehedge Inn's extensive wine program - Wine Therapy…no, not the wine that you drink, but the wine that you 'soak' in! Wine Therapy, also known as Vinotherapy, is fast becoming one of the most popular spa programs, found only in exclusive luxury spas, due to its anti aging, anti-oxidant properties. Check out The Stonehedge Inn's website for more details.Pamper yourself or someone you love. Visit or give a gift certificate this holiday season to visit one of these fabulous destinations.

I have had dinner at the Spiced Pear and it was an incredible experience. We had one of the chef's tasting menus and the food and wine pairings were exceptional. Service was also top notch. This is definitely a foodie paradise, well worth its price.
