Post 390 in Boston

I attended the Post 390 Launch Party on October 1st. Post 390 is located at 406 Staurt St, just down the street from its big brother Grill 23. While at the party I spent a little time with Wine Director, Brahm Callahan and Beverage Manager, Jared Marcus.

Jared, took me around to see the place. I found the atmosphere to be business casual, yet classy. The first floor has a long stone bar with a very inviting fireplace in the middle. There is high bench seating along the windows with hightop tables and bar stools as well. Its a nice option for a couple or two having drinks or appetizers while in the Copley area. For main dining, there are several booth tables upstairs for larger parties and a more sit down atmosphere.

After the walk, I spent a lot time with Brahm talking about the wine list. Brahm mentioned they keep about 5,000 bottles on premises with about 250 selections. While chatting, I decided to enjoy the 2006 Charles Krug Cabernet ($12) which was one of their by-the-glass options. This wine had just done very well in our blind tasting, so of course I thought it was a terrific option. In looking over the wine list, I found some options that we have recommended. Here is a short list of options and their bottle prices.

Kim Crawford 2008 Sauvignon Blanc $23 (Half bottle)

On the food side, they served several different appetizer options. All were well received. However, my favorite was the Beer and Bacon Mac and Cheese Balls. These were to die for! I could not wait for the server to come back with more. They were delicious and I can't wait to come back for a dinner portion. There are several different lunch and dinner options to choose from. I'm sure you will find something that appeals to you. Perhaps I will see you there!

Cheers,
Ken
