Newport Mansions Wine And Food Festival

Each year a wonderful wine event takes place in New England. That event is the Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the festival and it will take place on the weekend of September 24-26, 2010. The event kicks off at the historic Rosecliff Mansion on Friday night. This evening event is a lavishly upscale Wine and Food Gala where guests will be able to enjoy “Meeting the Chefs.” The weekend continues on Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th on the back lawn of the Marble House. This is my favorite part of the event. The grounds and the setting are absolutely breath taking.

The Weekend Festival will feature more than 100 of the world's finest vintners pouring 500 high-end international wines. Also, nearly two dozen of New England's finest restaurants and caterers will be serving fabulous food and providing cooking demonstrations by celebrated chefs. Let me tell you, the food at this wine event is much better than most wines events I attend throughout the year.

The Grand Tasting takes place from 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. A ticket to this portion of the event includes samplings of wines, small plate tastings of terrific and tasty food, cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, a souvenir glass, a tote bag, and free parking and shuttle transportation to/from the Marble House. Also guests will have the opportunity to tour the first floor of this historic mansion, which was the most opulent house in America when it was built in 1892. That alone is a great take. Trust me!

Tickets for this weekend of fine wine and food are available and may be purchased at http://www.newportmansionswineandfood.org/ or by calling (401) 847-1000, ext. 140. Special discount pricing is available on tickets purchased before September 17, 2010. Hope you get to check out this terrific wine and food event.

Cheers - Ken
