Skinner, Inc., one of the world's leading auction houses for antiques and fine art, will host its spring auction of Fine Wines on May 13, 2010 at 6 p.m. in its Boston gallery at 63 Park Plaza. The sale, realized through a partnership with Lower Falls Wine Company of Newton, MA, will offer over 500 extensive lots of fine vintage Bordeaux, Burgundy, Italian, Spanish and New World wines, representing the most extensive sale of the Fine Wine department to date.
Unlike any other, this sale boasts the most variety across regions.
The sale begins with an impressive, 17 lot collection of highly desirable first growth Bordeaux from a Boston cellar. Of particular note in this starting consignment is a 12 bottle lot of Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1986 estimated at $9,000-14,500. The finest producers of Bordeaux from around the world are represented throughout the sale including Chateau Latour, Chateau Petrus, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau Margaux.
Italy is also wonderfully represented including, from the region of Piedmont, a 12 bottle lot of La Spinetta (Rivetti) Barolo Campe estimated at $700 to $1,200.
New World producers also make a splash including Joseph Phelps, Pride Mountain Vineyards, and from Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select, 2002, a 6 bottle lot estimated at $1,800 to $2,400.
